The Inspiring Climate Education conference has commenced. This is an extremely positive environment in which to share and listen to what others do. It truly is inspirational to see the level of diversity and interests in a common theme. The Danish Ministry and city of Copenhagen provide not only a beautiful back drop, but a mindset that the world needs to recognize. Today's general theme appears to be use 'understanding climate change' as a motivating tool to teach science. The connectedness to real world issues is intra and interdisciplinary.

As a veteran teacher and climate change research coordinator, I am in awe at the variety of efforts occurring world-wide that find unity here at this conference. This is the first day and already I am richer than several years of foresting for a kinship with respect to inspiring climate education in my own classroom.
